15-Year-Old Poet, Writer & Dreamer
Sanjam Kaur Saini is a 15-year-old poet and writer who is extremely passionate about language and literature. She began exploring the art of writing at the age of 8, and since then has published a book of poems titled Echoes of Emotion as well as several short stories across various platforms.
She started writing Sophie's Growing Scar at the age of 10, refining it over the years. As a girl who relied on writing as her form of self-expression, she often dedicated her work to friends, family, and teachers — from life experiences to journaling after long days, her writing grew along with her.
Her life has always been an amalgamation of academics and extracurriculars, from her training as a ballerina since age 5, to MUN, art, and music. She believes that with a life to live and words to string, this is just the start.
Sophie is a shy and timid orphan with no friends at school. Her life is turned upside down after she meets a mysterious old man at the library. Though they quickly become friends, much about him remains a mystery — what does the symbol on the back of his hand mean, and why does he seem so connected to the old wooden bench in the corner?
One day, Sophie receives a parcel containing an unfamiliar green stone, a map, and no further explanation. And then her only friend is suddenly nowhere to be found. Was the map somehow connected to him?
To find out, Sophie decides to follow it — and this leads her on a magical adventure beyond anything she could have ever imagined. Will she rise to the challenges ahead? Does she have what it takes to survive the enchanted forest?
Sophie's Growing Scar is a tale of inner struggle, self-discovery, friendship, and loyalty — reminding us that our scars are symbols of our ability to heal and grow.
